# Do I need a Cleo Pay account to get paid?

> If a business invited you to get paid through Cleo Pay, yes, but it's a free receive-only account with no subscription. If the business typed in your bank details itself, you don't need one.

If a business invited you to get paid through Cleo Pay, you'll need to create an account to receive the money. It's a receive-only account, it's free, and there's no subscription. The business uses it to get your tax details and the bank account you want to be paid in. If the business typed in your bank details itself, you don't need an account at all.

## What the account is for

The business that pays you uses Cleo Pay to collect what it needs to pay you: your W-9 details and your bank account. Your account holds that information so you don't have to send it to them by email.

Setup has three parts:

1. Create your account with Google or your email address.
2. Add your tax details. You can upload a W-9 PDF or type the details in. See [How to submit your W-9](https://cleo-pay.com/help/submit-your-w-9).
3. Add the bank account you want to be paid in. See [How to add your bank account to get paid](https://cleo-pay.com/help/add-your-bank-account-to-get-paid).

A receive-only account has no plan or seats to pay for. Getting paid is free.

## What you can do once you're set up

- See payments coming to you on the **Get Paid** page.
- Send an invoice to a business you're connected to with **New Invoice**.
- Change the bank you're paid in under **Settings**, then **Bank Accounts**.
- Download 1099s the businesses that paid you have sent, under **Settings**, then **Tax Forms**.

## When you don't need an account

A business can add you as a contact and enter your payment details itself. In that case it pays you without you signing up. If those details are wrong or your bank changes, contact the business that pays you so it can update them. Don't send bank details by email.

## Already have an account?

Use **Sign in** on the invitation page instead of creating a new account. One Cleo Pay login can get paid by many businesses, so you don't need a second account for a second customer.

If you're not sure the invitation is real, forward it to support@cleo-pay.com before you click anything. See [Someone paid you through Cleo Pay: what to do](https://cleo-pay.com/help/someone-paid-you-through-cleo-pay) for what a real payment email looks like.
